Schenectady Police will soon have more help fighting crime.
Mayor McCarthy today swore in five new police recruits; Duane Bechand, Bradley Carlton, Michael Gailor, Jared Jupin and Teodoro Popolizio.
Four of the men currently live in Schenectady. Gailor lives in Saratoga Springs.
They will enter the training academy tomorrow for six months of basic training followed by 12 weeks of supervised training in the field.
