Police have identified the three and a half year old boy who drowned Tuesday afternoon at Taghkanic State Park in Columbia County. He is Connor Bagley of Athens who was at the beach with his mother, an infant sibling and a woman who is a family friend

Several agencies are investigating the young boy's drowning, but so far, state police say there is no evidence showing that it was anything but a terrible, terrible accident.

The beach at Taghkanic state park was not as crowded as Tuesday when police say the boy's mother lost sight of him in the water and reported him missing shortly before the boy's body was discovered under-water, a short time later.

Parents there Wednesday were well aware of the tragedy and the danger beyond the beach.

Lifeguards and good samaritans searched the water yesterday, after the boy's mother reported him missing.

Today, lifeguards from other state parks replaced them until all investigations are completed those probes being conducted by the office of parks and recreation, the state health department, and the state police.

Captain Brown says grief counselors are being made available to the lifeguards and to any of the first responders having trouble with the death of such a young child

On the beach today, parents holding their kids' hands just a little tighter.
