BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man who won a $3 million jackpot from the New York State Lottery says he's not sure yet how he'll spend it - but he has no plans to quit his job.
James Jess of North Bennington works at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center's health information services department. He said the money "will make life a little better all around."
The Bennington Banner reports (http://bit.ly/OaF2LU) the 62-year-old Jess bought his winning Bonanza scratch-off ticket from the Stewart's Shop on Route 67 in North Hoosick on Aug. 10. He claimed the prize on Aug. 13.
Jess said he scratched the ticket in the store and had the clerk scan it. He said they both kept looking back and forth at the scanner, and then at each other in disbelief.
