BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A former clothing store manager in Vermont has pleaded guilty to embezzling over $500 from the business.

Police said 38-year-old Tracey Allen told police she took money to pay for gas in order to go between Bennington and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., because she had a medical condition.

The Bennington Banner reports Allen was given a three-year deferred sentence and ordered to pay back the money taken from Maurice's, a clothing store in Bennington.

Police said Allen admitted to processing 14 fraudulent cash refunds since Nov. 2. They said she would sign false customer signatures and pocket the refund money.
