COEYMANS, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 29-year-old New York stock car driver has died after a tree he was working on fell on him.

Police in the town of Coeymans tell the Times Union of Albany that the accident occurred Thursday at J.C. Flach's family property about 10 miles south of Albany.

Officers say family members and first responders tried unsuccessfully to revive Flach, who later died at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Police have ruled his death an accident. Other details haven't been released.

Flach was part of a stock car-racing family with its own team, Flach Motorsports. In 2008, he was named rookie of the year by the New York State Stock Car Association.
