PRATTSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - A bridge along a stretch of a Catskill road heavily damaged by flooding from two tropical storms last year has been shut down after a state inspector found cracks in a steel truss.

The bridge carrying Route 23 across the Schoharie Creek in Prattsville in western Greene County was closed late Thursday night after the inspector spotted the cracks earlier in the day.

The state Department of Transportation says the bridge is expected to be closed for several days and possibly longer. Inspectors will do a structural analysis Tuesday to determine what repairs need to be done before the bridge can be reopened.

Route 23 was heavily damaged by tropical storms Irene and Lee late last summer. It wasn't completely reopened until early December.

Officials say the bridge cracks aren't flooding-related.
