Albany mother hopes for bone marrow match

A young, Albany mother is hoping someone in the capital region can help save her life. She's suffering from the one cancer she always feared; leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant.
Maggie Delvalle is 34. She's recuperating from her most recent round of chemo therapy at her mom's home.
She's lucky because her parents live downstairs from her and her husband Moses and their 4 year old daughter.
It's the one bright spot in an otherwise dark time for this Albany woman.
Maggie was diagnosed with acute lymphacetic leukemia on January 24th, just about a year after undergoing gastric bypass and losing 140 pounds - so she could better keep up with her young, active daughter.
Maggie's cancer went into remission following her initial chemo, but it's likely to reoccur. Her only shot at long term survival is a bone marrow transplant. None of her family members is a match and so far a match hasn't been found in the general population, probably because she learned she's got another strike against her.
Maggie was told she was not going to be able to find a match. She has two rare antigens in her blood. That ups the ante for getting more people tested and into the bone marrow donor registry. She's got her fingers crossed an upcoming registry event will find her a match.
Maggie says, "You could be a total stranger but you could have those antigens and you could never have thought to go on a registry."
