ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York judges and lawyers are marking the 50th anniversary of the state's Family Court system.

They're holding a ceremony in Albany and panel discussions about the decision to structure the court system in 1962 to create a statewide network of courts do deal with issues involving children and families.

Those include abuse, neglect, delinquency, custody, paternity and other matters.

Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman will make opening remarks at the ceremony Friday. Former Chief Judge Judith Kaye will later discuss the future of the Family Court.
