A local athlete was among dozens of US Olympians and Paralympians welcomed at the White House this morning.

The president and First Lady saluted the athletes during a ceremony on the White House South Lawn.

The President called them an example of what it means to be both Olympians and Americans, saying,

"Thank you for being such great role models especially for our young people, we could not be prouder of you. You gave us a summer we will never forget. It is a great honor to welcome you home."

Among the athletes, Judo team member, Kyle Vashkulat, who took tweeted these photos today.

Vashkulat lives in Clifton Park and trains at the Jason Morris Judo Center in Glenville.

In all, US Olympians won 104 medals, 46 of them gold.

Paralympians won 98 medals.
