New security measures this year at LARKfest

ALBANY - The police barricades are at the ready.
The
What would only be described by the police chief as a "significant" number of officers are on the schedule for tomorrow.
All for this: the tens of thousands of people who attend Lark Street's biggest party.
New this year, an officer will be stationed at every possible festival entrance.
Outside booze is banned and the only allowed alcohol will be sold in an event sanctioned cup and purchased from bar or restaurant.
Police officers will also be assigned to rove the side streets and lark--to crack down on smuggled alcohol, rowdiness, violence and trespassing.
What differentiates Lark Fest, from other music festivals in the city, like Pearlpalooza, where alcohol is permitted is the combination of people who live in what's also considered a commercial area.
For those who choose to violate the new rules or cause problems the police are under strict orders to issue citations...which come with a court appearance, fine and/or community service.
