ALBANY - Police in Albany are searching for four teenage suspects in the assault of a 70-year-old man Saturday at the Stewart's Shop at Washington Avenue and Quail Street.
According to police the Loudonville resident was backing out of the Stewart's parking lot onto Quail street when one of four teens kicked his car. He told police that one of the teens walked up to the driver's side window and spat on him.
When the victim got out of his car to confront the group, he tells police they knocked him to the ground and attacked him -- punching and kicking him and striking him several times on the head with a plastic garbage can lid.
Police say that was people came to the man's aid. the suspects fled down Washington Avenue on their bicycles.
The victim was treated at the scene and taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
