Early morning fire kills an elderly man in Schenectady

Fire fighters are responding to a fire that broke out on Helderberg Ave. in Schenectady just after 6:30 Saturday morning. They report that an elderly tenant did not make it. 

Investigators are still working to determine a cause, but they believe it began in the lower apartment where the elderly tenant lived. Police are not yet releasing his name.

The fire department remains on scene through Saturday morning.
