A state judge has certified that Stephen Saland won a tight primary against fellow Republican Neil Di Carlo for State Senate.

Saland defeated Di Carlo by just 107 votes in the Mid-Hudson Valley.

It was Saland's first primary in more than two decades in the senate.

Both he and senator Roy McDonald cast critical votes last year to legalize gay marriage in New York.
