Governor dispatches mobile command center to help residents facing foreclosure

COLONIE - Mobile command centers are typically dispatched in emergency situations, but an emergency of a different kind led to one being set up outside Town Hall in Colonie today.

The governor is sending a State Mobile Command Center, which is basically a fully equipped RV to towns all over the State.

This is not in response to a natural disaster or tragedy, but in hopes of alleviating the housing crisis.

Inside, residents will find legal and financial experts available to help New Yorkers who are on the delinquency to default spectrum in regards to their mortgages.

The help is free, and basically the experts triage cases, they look for predatory lending and consumer abuse.

They also guide homeowners towards financial recovery through mortgage modifications and credit repair.

The Department of Financial Services claims there are 345,000 homeowners in New York who financially troubled.

The mobile command center will be coming to Albany in a couple weeks.
