WATERVLIET - What was originally thought to be an abduction near the Dunkin Donuts on 19th Street in Watervliet, turns out to be an argument between a man and his girlfriend about their current living arrangement and finances.

As a result of media coverage, someone came forward with information about who was possibly involved in this incident.

Upon follow up, the man and woman were located through a former residence they lived at in the city. Watervliet Police say the couple wasn't aware that they were the focus of a police investigation or media frenzy over the past 24 hours.

The 22 year old man and his 25 year old girlfriend explained to police that while driving home from work Thursday, they were arguing. At some point, the woman got out of the car and began walking down 19th street. The man tried to coax her back into the car, but was unsuccessful for several blocks.

When they arrived at or near the Dunkin Donuts, the man blocked his girlfriends walking path, and exited the car to confront her. They continued to disagree until he physically picked her up, put her back into the car, and continued down the alley.

Police say the couple claims they resolved their issue a short while later, and thought nothing more of the incident.

No charges are being filed and their names are not being released.
