Colonie man arrested for criminal sex act

State Police announce the arrest of 40 year old Michael Derarakelian on criminal sex act, sex abuse, and harassment charges.

Police say Derarakelian had sexual contact with two females without their consent. When one of the females said she would report him to police, Derarakelian threatened to kill her and burn her house down.

Upon further investigation police discovered that Derarakelian text messaged several females in Albany County asking the females if they were interested in working as nude models and escorts. He remained hidden by using fake names and restricted phone numbers.

Derarakelian was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and released on probation. Police ask anyone who feels they've been contacted by Derarakelian to call the State Police in New Scotland at (518) 768-8161.
