Columbia county sex offender faces new charges

COLUMBIA COUNTY - A level two sex offender is facing new charges in Columbia County and the victim's mother is also charged.

Investigators say 47-year-old Kevin Hawver of Copake inappropriately touched a 5-year-old.

They claim the mother let her child spend time with Hawver even though she knew he was a sex offender.

She's now charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The mother's name is not being released because police don't want to identify the child.
