ALBANY – A preschool age girl was sent to a burn unit after being injured in a fire on Benson Street.

The blaze was fully involved when firefighters were called to 20 Benson St. shortly before noon.

Fire officials say the girl, who is about 3 or 4 years old, is being transported to a burn treatment center in Boston.

A crying woman believed to be the child's mother was alert, her burned hand bandaged, as she was loaded into an ambulance.

A girl slightly older than the burned child was also taken separately to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities say two more children were also in the house, but escaped.

There is no word yet on the cause.
