BOSTON (AP) - Boston Mayor Thomas Menino is trying to stop a possible sex toy giveaway on City Hall Plaza before it starts.

The Boston Herald reports that Menino's properties chief wrote to condom-maker Trojan's marketing firm Wednesday, asking it to find another site for a planned vibrator giveaway. Michael Galvin told Massivemedia that it would be an "inappropriate and irresponsible" use of a plaza frequented by families.

The Herald reports Boston may not be able to stop Trojan from using the plaza, since it's a public place where the giveaway would be constitutionally protected.

In a statement, Trojan said it's working with the city to "add even more pleasure to the bedroom." A Massivemedia official told the Herald the company asked about a permit for the plaza and is still searching for a Boston location.
