AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - University of Massachusetts officials say four Pittsfield teenagers have been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a female student on the Amherst campus.

A university spokesman says the 18-year-old woman was raped in her dorm room early in the morning of Oct. 13 by the four suspects who were known to her. The suspects are not students at the school.

The suspects arrested over the weekend were identified as Emmanuel Bile, Justin King, and Adam Licciardi, all 18 years old; and 17-year-old Caleb Womack. They were scheduled for arraignment in district court in Belchertown on Monday.

Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy said in a statement that maintaining a safe learning and living community is of the upmost importance and violence will not be tolerated.
