LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) - A project that will turn a former amusement park site into a public park and environmental resource is getting a half-million-dollar boost.

NewsChannel 13's Media Partners at the Post-Star of Glens Falls reports that the West Brook Conservation Initiative at the former Gaslight Village site in Lake George is getting a $500,000 grant from the Wright Family Foundation.

Local officials and environmentalists have been working to bring a park to the former Gaslight site, located near the lake's southern shore. The new park will include a children's play area, festival space and a restored wetlands area that will serve as a filter for storm water before it enters a steam that empties into the lake.

The park is expected to be completed in 2014.
