BLENHEIM - State and local government agencies are in Schoharie County talking about the storm preparation.
According to the New York Power Authority, which operates the reservoir in Blenheim that feeds into the Schoharie Creek, that reservoir is at its lowest level in preparation for the rain that’s expected to come.
The Gilboa Dam, operated by the New York City Department of Environmental Conservation, has been declared “100 percent safe.” Construction work at the dam was stopped over the weekend. The dam will be monitored continuously during the storm.
They also moved 1.3 billion gallons of water out of the Schoharie Reservoir in preparation for the storm.
The state DEC warns Schoharie County residents that the streams are still recovering from Tropical Storm Irene last year. They advise people to get out of harms way and stay cautious to be on the safe side.
