Albany Mayor focuses on presidential race as NYS Democrat Elector

ALBANY - This election season Jerry Jennings is wearing a different hat.
Instead of focusing on the City of Albany, the mayor's attention is on the presidential race as a member of the Electoral College.
Jennings is one of 29 Democrat Electors in New York State.
Registered voters only contribute to the popular vote.
The popular vote outcome instructs the members of the Electoral College who have pledged to support a specific candidate.
The number of electors depends on a state's population.
This is Jennings first time serving as an elector and he says the State Democratic Party nominated him.
“My job is to get people out to vote and make sure the message is out there and do it together and make people understand this is a very, very important election for us all,” said Jennings.
Four presidents have won the popular vote but not the Electoral College vote.
Most recently, in 2000, when Al Gore ran against George W Bush.
