Niskayuna looks at possibility of closing a middle school

NISKAYUNA - The Niskayuna School District is looking at possibly closing a middle school.

The Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday to discuss three options. Two of those options would close Van Antwerp Middle School.

With one option, the district would either keep 6th graders in the elementary schools -- making Iroqouis Middle School for 7th and 8th grade only.

Another option would expand the size of Iroquois. In that case, 6th graders would be kept in their elementary schools for a few years until work on Iroquois is completed.

The third option is to keep van Antwerp and Iroquois operating as they currently are.
