Body of Mechanicville Marine returns home

MECHANICVILLE - There were very few dry eyes when the casket carrying Anthony Deniere arrived at Albany International airport Monday morning.
The 26-year-old Marine was killed by enemy fire in Afghanistan last week.
His hometown of Mechanicville gathered to honor the fallen hero and show support to his surviving family.
There are few sights more moving than a flag draped coffin arriving home
The one carrying the remains of Anthony Deniere was welcomed by family, friends and countless strangers.
The Lance Corporal's brothers in battle acted as escort to their fallen friend.
The procession was led by motorcyclists from the Patriot Guard.
Hundreds of supporters--waving flags and wearing yellow ribbons--lined the 15 mile route from the airport to Deniere's home town of Mechanicville.
“I feel it's important to let the family know we appreciate the sacrifice,” said Rebecca Southard-Krieger of Averill Park
An enormous flag flew above the sea of red standing outside the Deniere's Alma Mater, Mechanicville High School where young and old gathered together to honor a life lost too early.
Monday's procession ended, appropriately at the American Legion. Its parking lot and sidewalk were packed. For Ted Kleniewski from Mechanicville, Deniere's death hits close to home in more ways than one. His 21-year-old is also a Marine:
“I feel as if he's my own son,” he said.
An entire community is hurting, but no one more than Mary Morgan, the mom who will bury her 26-year-old child on Tuesday.
“This is the most painful impact of war. To witness this loss is very heart wrenching and you can't help but to feel so deeply,” said Rep. Paul Tonko
