SCHENECTADY - The city of Schenectady is about to lose its Police Chief.

Mark Chaires is retiring on Sunday.

On Monday, he starts his new position as Executive Director of the Hamilton Hill Arts Center.

Mayor Gary McCarthy is expected to name a replacement for Chaires, and he wants that person to live in the city.

Three assistant police chiefs are in the running for the job, but none live in Schenectady.
