Audit: IT bureau could have put veteran’s info at risk

ALBANY - A new audit finds a state-run IT bureau could have put personal information of twelve veterans at risk.
The audit by the state comptroller's office looked at the actions of the Office of General Services' Information Resource Management Bureau.

OGS now has a system in place to destroy all hard drives before getting rid of them.
“What happens next I think is that OGS puts a new policy in place to avoid any risk of exposure to sensitive data, they will remove the hard discs and destroy them so there won't be any exposure whatsoever,” said Jerry Barber, Assistant Comptroller.
