NISKAYUNA - Firefighters say a teenage girl died after being carried from a burning home in Niskayuna.
Fire Chief Dale Lingenfelter says firefighters were called to the house at 2241 Niskayuna Dr. just before 8:30 a.m. after a neighbor spotted smoke. He says the girl was found unconscious in a downstairs bedroom.
Lingenfelter says the girl, believed to be about 13 years old, died at Ellis Hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Lingenfelter says it's believed to have started in a kitchen.
The fire chief says the girl was home alone at the time. He says she lived with her father, who was away at work.
