50 pit bulls seized after investigation

MINDEN– The Montgomery County Sheriffs Department, Fort Plain Police and New York State Police have seized more than 50 pit bulls after receiving numerous complaints over the last several days.

During the investigation officials found the animals living in deplorable conditions in a barn on Route 5S.

According to state police the barn was unheated, exposed to the elements and the water was frozen. A deceased animal as well as fecal matter were also present.

All of the dogs removed were examined by a veterinarian. Many of the dogs suffered from frostbite, open sores and worms.

Police are still investigating. No arrests have been made.
