HOOSICK FALLS - A domestic dispute in Hoosick Falls led to a police standoff Monday and ended with a man in the hospital.
State police surrounded a home on Route 22 for several hours.
They say 44-year-old Keith Gates fired several rifle shots out the back of the house around 10 a.m. Officials say when police arrived, he threatened to harm them and himself, and refused to leave the home.
Crisis negotiators talked with him for several hours, but he refused to leave.
Authorities eventually used robotic surveillance equipment that found Gates in an upstairs bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head.
Gates was taken to Albany Medical Center where police say he's in "grave condition."
Troopers say police had been called to the home Sunday night for domestic disturbance.
