ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The annual "people's state of the state" demonstration in Albany is seeking to rivet attention on the poor, the malnourished, the infirm and those who lack a political voice.
The demonstration outside the Capitol brings together several groups that seek to lobby for the poor and hungry as well as the poor elderly.
The event comes a day before Gov. Andrew Cuomo presents his State of the State speech to outline his legislative priorities for 2013.
A major issue shared by the groups and Cuomo is increasing the state's minimum wage.
