Business leaders lose optimism in 2013 prospects

ALBANY - Business leaders throughout upstate don't expect 2013 to be a very good economic year.
First Niagara commissioned a survey by the Siena Research Institute.
More than 1,100 leaders of private companies in the 55 counties north of New York City were contacted.
After three years of increasing optimism, overall the business leaders have turned more negative about economic prospects for the coming year.
They mentioned continuing growth of health care costs, as well as government regulation and taxation.
Although Capital Region business leaders were in general agreement with their counterparts in other parts of upstate, they don't see conditions quite as bad.
