ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The New York State Writers Institute has announced its spring schedule of visiting writer appearances and film screenings.

The lineup includes novelists, a historian, a visionary scientist known as the "founding father" of nanotechnology, and a new award-winning Ken Burns documentary.

The season opens Feb. 4 with a lecture by Colman Domingo, nominated for a Best Performance Tony Award in 2011 for the Broadway musical, "The Scottsboro Boys."

At the end of the season on May 6, K. Eric Drexler presents his latest book, "Radical Abundance," which argues that nanoscience will usher in a new age of plenty.

The events take place at the University at Albany.
