No jail time for Burgess in death of 3 pedestrians

ALBANY - A woman who was taking medications when she fatally mowed down three women outside a suburban Albany church will not serve any more time behind bars.
Luann Burgess of Voorheesville was sentenced Friday morning to time served, 600 hours of community service and five years probation. The 55-year-old will also lose her driving privileges for life.
Burgess pleaded guilty in November to criminally negligent homicide after admitting in court that she was taking six medications and became distracted in August 2011 when her sport utility vehicle ran off a road, hit three Albany-area women and crashed into a Catholic church in the village of Voorheesville.
All three women - ages 66, 79 and 81 - were killed.
Burgess was originally charged with vehicular manslaughter and lesser charges of driving while under the influence of drugs.
