CATSKILL - A Poughkeepsie man pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder in the death of a Greenville man.
Police say 30-year-old Maurice Pratt shot Scott Myer several times earlier this month. They say the two men knew each other and could have been fighting over stolen property.
Police also say more charges are possible.
Pratt's attorney, Anthony DeFazio, says the prosecutor doesn't have much of a case.
"They're saying they don't have a statement from my client. They're saying they don't have a witness to any of the events to this. So I don't know what their case is about," DeFazio said. "You know, they got a grand jury to bring an indictment, but getting a jury to actually bring a conviction is a much different story."
Pratt remains in jail without bail.
