NISKAYUNA- Last summer, the Federal Government implemented new guidelines for its school lunch program.

The goal was to improve nutrition and fight childhood obesity.

Tuesday night, the Niskayuna Board of Education will decide whether to opt out of the national school lunch program.

The school superintendent in Niskayuna says fewer students are buying lunch.

And she says the increased servings of fruits and vegetables and the decrease in meal size are costing her district thousand of dollars.
