State Police in New York are busy answering questions from the public about the State's new gun law.
NewsChannel 13 spoke to a member of the state police today about the gun law hotline.
It was set up to help folks understand the law before it goes into effect.
We tried to call numerous times throughout the day yesterday and today and each time, the line was busy.
Today, we asked police to explain why we couldn't get anyone to pick up.
"We've got plenty of people there to answer it. We're not rushing anyone off the phone. We're going to spend time with you and answer your questions as efficiently and quickly as we can to get to the next caller," said Kevin Bruen of the State Police
Police tell NewsChannel 13 they have 13 investigators working on the hotline, 10 are answering the phone lines.
They say most people want to make sure they're following the rules.
To see if you are, you can also check out a website set up by the State.
If you'd like to call the hotline, the number is 855-law-guns.
