WRIGHT – More than 60 cats were found dead in Schoharie County freezer Wednesday morning.

It was part of a raid where more than 100 animals were found living in "deplorable conditions," the Schoharie County Sheriff's Department says.

The raid was organized with the sheriff’s department, along with members of the district attorney’s office, the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley and the Schenectady County SPCA.

A veterinarian examined some of the rescued animals. They are now at the animal shelter in Howe’s Cave awaiting examination results.

More information will be released at a news conference on Thursday.
