Two Mechanicville homes damaged by fire

MECHANICVILLE - Two homes were badly damaged by fire, late Friday afternoon.
Firefighters spent hours in the bitter cold working to knock down the flames at 249 and 251 South Third Avenue.
A lot of the water pumped out by hoses froze over on the streets, so firefighters had to salt the roads too.
Neighbors tell us they think all the people are okay, but unfortunately some of dogs and cats in an upstairs apartment did not make it out.
The Red Cross is putting up the families who live in the homes.
