As Saratoga Springs High School's boys basketball team went head to head with Shen Friday night, there was a noticeable absence off the court.
Saratoga's coach, Jack Brock, is on temporary leave after an incident that followed Tuesday night's game against Burnt Hills.
The suspension was a big topic of conversation in the stands at the game, where Saratoga's assistant coaches filled in for Brock.
Saratoga's superintendent says Brock's leave stems from inappropriate language, characterized as verbal abuse, used with the team after Tuesday's game.
Laurie Alexander, the mother of a Saratoga player, said she believes Coach Brock showed an error in judgment and should be reprimanded, but she added that he doesn't deserve to be fired.
"Jack Brock is a good man. He's a good person and I feel very badly. I hope that the boys can regroup and I hope everyone can learn something from this," Alexander said.
It's unclear how long the suspension is expected to last.
It does not affect Brock's job as a physical education teacher at Geyser Road Elementary School.
