WASHINGTON D.C. - Massachusetts' newest U.S. Senator, William ‘Mo’ Cowan, is taking the oath of office today.
He is being sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden.
Cowan will serve on an interim basis, filling the seat left vacant when John Kerry became Secretary of State.
It will be a brief tenure, as a special election will be held in June to find a replacement.
Cowan has said he will not run in the special election.
