NYS Nurses Association descends on the Capital.

New York's largest union representing nurses took to the Empire State Plaza to warn about the future of hospitals in our state.
A group from the New York State Nurses Association, mostly from the Brooklyn area, held signs and chanted slogans. They're trying to protect two hospitals in Brooklyn they say are under threat of closing.
They made their case against what they call a trend towards a "for-profit" model.
"I think it's a statewide issue. Just because you happen to hear about this happening in the city, doesn't mean its not going to happen upstate. With wall street wanting to have for- profit hospitals down in the city, certainly the expectation is that it can happen anywhere in the state," says Carol Ann Lemon, a Staff Nurse at Ellis Hospital.
The nurses timed their trip to Albany to coincide with caucus weekend. As budget season gets under way, there is tension between nurses wanting to keep their jobs and the financial realities that are out there right now.
