Man pleads guilty in $191K coin, jewelry thefts

HEBRON, N.Y. (AP) - A second eastern New York man has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $200,000 in gold coins and jewelry from an elderly woman's home.
The Washington County District Attorney's Office tells NewsChannel 13's media partners at The Post-Star that 34-year-old Edward Thieverge of Greenwich pleaded guilty to felony burglary for thefts he and another man committed at the victim's home in the rural town of Hebron.
Prosecutors say Thieverge and 32-year-old Eric Martin of Argyle stole about 70 antique gold coins and jewelry worth $191,000 last August and sold them at pawn shops around the Northeast to buy heroin and vehicles.
They were caught last September trying to sell some of the loot at a pawn shop in Schenectady County.
Martin pleaded guilty last month.
