PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Pittsfield man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for biting his infant daughter and pregnant girlfriend on separate occasions last year.

Robert Russell Jr. was convicted Thursday of aggravated assault and battery, witness intimidation and assault and battery on a child with injury.

Prosecutors say the 20-year-old Russell bit his daughter at least once in February 2012 and possibly a number of times, based on the number of marks in various stages of healing on her body.

The Berkshire Eagle reports he also bit his 18-year-old girlfriend on the face during an assault in April, which her friend recorded.

Authorities say Russell threatened the friend, telling her if she went to police he was going to "get" her.

Russell's attorney said his client has mental health problems.
