ALBANY - The Albany Academies for Boys and Girls are entering their third century.

The Albany Academy for Boys was chartered on March 4, 1813.

The Academy for Girls was chartered the year after.

Famous alumni include author Herman Melville who authored Moby Dick, the late Andy Rooney of "60 minutes" and Philadelphia Eagles running back Dion Lewis.

The schools are planning celebrations all year.

Monday afternoon, the school's restored tower clock will chime to ring-in their third century.
