RENSSELAER – Police responded to the Doane Stuart School Monday after a parent came to the building with a gun.
Rensselaer police say 44-year-old Pierre Jeune of Hudson was allowed into the building by school staff around 11:30 a.m.
Rensselaer police say Jeune visited the school to discuss a fender bender he had with another party at the school recently. Police say Jeune told a school official that he felt threatened and showed that he was armed.
At that point staff members called police and put the school into lockdown.
By the time police arrived, Jeune had left. Police called him on his cell phone and asked him to return to the school, at which point he was taken into custody without incident.
Police say no one was ever in any danger.
Jeune did have a permit to carry the weapon. However, even with a permit, it is illegal to carry a gun on school grounds. Jeune was charged fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, which is a misdemeanor
