The TSA will soon allow some previously restricted items, including small knives, back on aircraft.

The change coming in April will mostly affect pocket knives, like a Swiss Army knife, with blades less than 2.5 inches long.

Box cutters and knives with locking blades will still be prohibited.

Some sporting items, such as lacrosse sticks and ski poles, will also be permitted on board.

The TSA says the changes reflect its overall assessment of risks to travelers and are in alignment with international standards.

Not everyone welcomes the change. A flight attendants union has called the decision "dangerous."
