FORT EDWARD - A Rensselaer County man is headed to state prison in connection with the death of his wife.
Courtney Kessler, 35, pleaded guilty Friday morning to criminally negligent homicide in the January 2012 death of his wife, Robin.
When he's sentenced on April 12 he faces a maximum of one and a third to four years in prison.
It all stems from a crash on Route 22 in White Creek on Jan. 22, 2012. Kessler and his wife were on their way home from a football party. He was driving a 2001 Ford Escape. His wife was in the passenger seat.
Prosecutors say he was driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.17 when he crossed over the line and struck a pickup truck pulling a trailer of building materials.
Robin Kessler, 30, was killed.
Courtney Kessler was initially charged with manslaughter. He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of criminally negligent homicide.
The Kesslers have three children.
The district attorney declined to comment, saying Kessler’s guilty plea speaks for itself.
