CLIFTON PARK - A bus carrying a lacrosse team from Vermont collided with a car late Tuesday morning.
The crash happened just before Noon on the southbound side of the Northway between exits 9 and 10.
About 40 people were on board the bus, which was carrying the men’s lacrosse team from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt. along with coaches and a trainer.
Two of the people on the lacrosse team are from the Capital Region.
Police say a Porsche lost control in front of a bus for an unknown reason. That caused the bus to strike the Porsche.
The passenger in the Porsche, a 64-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 65-year-old man, is in Albany Medical Center. At last check he was in critical, but stable condition.
It was raining hard at the time of the crash and state police say that may have caused the driver of the sports car to lose control.
The team was headed to Long Island to play two games. They still plan to get them in.
