The FDA is looking into the possibility that a group of new diabetes drugs can increase the risk of pancreatitis.

The drugs include Merck's Januvia, Novo Nordisk's Victoza, and Amylin's Byetta, among others.

The FDA says, tests in some patients show the drugs increased inflammation of the pancreas and caused cellular changes that often precede cancer.

Regulators recommend patients continue taking their medications until they speak to their doctor.
